FAQs
Here you’ll find answers to frequently asked questions about arbonet and digital tree inventory management. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us.
No. You do not need to cancel your trial. Every registered user in arbonet can create their own organization and start a free 4-week trial. During this period, you can create projects and record, inspect, and manage up to 500 trees. The full functionality of arbonet is available throughout the trial. After 4 weeks, access to the data is automatically disabled — no cancellation is required.
You can upgrade to your preferred data package at any time during or after the trial and continue managing your tree inventory without interruption.
Yes. The arbonet app can also be used offline. In general, tree inventory management in arbonet takes place online via the cloud-based web application, allowing all stakeholders to access shared projects in real time. However, during on-site inspections and maintenance activities, a stable mobile network connection is not always available. For this reason, the arbonet app allows you to download the trees of a work package (“job”) as well as relevant aerial imagery to your device for offline use. Once an internet connection is restored, all offline-recorded data can be synchronized with a single click.
arbonet’s goal is to integrate tree care workers directly into the digital workflow via the arbonet app.
From the web application, workers can be invited by email to participate in a project or a specific work package (“job”). With the “Care” permission, they receive restricted editing rights: completed work can be marked as finished and commented on if necessary.
Additional tasks identified beyond the assigned work can also be recorded. This approach eliminates the need to create and print work lists or maps in advance and removes the manual process of checking off completed tasks later in the office.
Yes. Individual trees (points) and tree groups (polygons) recorded in arbonet can be easily displayed in your GIS.
Simply add the arbonet web service “GIS Interface” to your data package. This service provides your tree data as web services (WMS, WFS), allowing seamless integration into your existing GIS environment.
Yes. Your own geodata (vector format), such as property boundaries, can be hosted within arbonet. Simply add the arbonet web service “Background Data” to your data package. The hosted data will then be available as a WMS layer and can be displayed directly in your arbonet projects.
Yes. Assessing tree safety is a key outcome of routine inspections and should therefore be recorded in the tree inventory and easily evaluated. It is best practice to link tree safety to the recommended work measures. For example, safety-relevant deadwood removal results in a status of “restorable”; once the work is completed, the tree is classified as “safe”. If tree safety cannot be clearly determined during a routine inspection, the tree can be marked as “uncertain,” and a detailed investigation may be recommended. Trees whose safety cannot be restored are classified as “not safe” and are generally scheduled for removal.
A key objective of maintaining a digital tree inventory is to ensure legal compliance in fulfilling the duty of care for tree safety. arbonet provides all essential requirements for this: Access to the tree inventory is restricted to authorized users only, ensuring controlled and traceable data handling. In addition, a complete version history is maintained for all data changes — no tree data is overwritten or permanently deleted. Even after multiple edits, all previous records remain stored in the system as part of the historical log. For each tree, all past inspection results — including the inspector and inspection date — are fully documented and accessible at any time. Likewise, completed work measures and historical versions of tree attributes, along with their respective modification dates, can be retrieved whenever needed.
