FAQs
Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about arbonet and the topic of tree registers. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
No, cancellation of the trial period is not required. Every user registered in arbonet has the option to create their own organization and start a free 4-week trial period. During this time, you can create your own projects and record, inspect, and manage up to 500 trees. The full functionality of arbonet is available during the trial. After the 4-week period, access to the data is automatically disabled — no cancellation is necessary.
Of course, you can book your preferred data package at any time during or after the trial period and start your professional tree management with arbonet!
Yes, the arbonet app can also be used offline. In general, tree management in arbonet takes place online via the cloud application — all stakeholders access shared projects in real time. However, during on-site inspection and maintenance activities, a stable mobile network connection cannot always be guaranteed. Therefore, the arbonet app allows you to download the trees of a work package (“jobs”) as well as aerial imagery of the relevant map sections to your device for offline use. Once an internet connection is available, all offline-recorded data can be synchronized with a single click.
The goal of comprehensive digital tree management in arbonet is to integrate tree care workers directly into the process via the arbonet app.
From the web application, they can be invited by email to participate in a project or a specific work package (“job”). With the “care” permission, they receive limited editing rights to the tree data: completed works can be marked as finished and commented on if necessary.
Any additional tasks identified beyond the assigned works can also be recorded. The advantages of this approach are clear — there is no longer any need to create and print work lists or work maps in advance, nor to manually check off completed works later on the computer.
Yes, displaying individual trees (points) and tree groups (polygons) recorded in arbonet within your GIS is easily possible.
Simply add the arbonet web service “GIS Interface” to your data package. This service allows tree data from your arbonet projects to be provided as web services (WMS, WFS) and integrated directly into your GIS environment.
Yes, your own geodata (vector format), such as property boundaries, can be hosted via arbonet. Simply add the arbonet web service “Background Data” to your data package. The geodata hosted through this service will then be available as a WMS for display within your arbonet projects.
Yes. Determining tree safety is a key outcome of tree inspections and should therefore be stored in the tree inventory and easily evaluated. It has proven ideal to link tree safety with the recommended work actions: a safety-relevant deadwood removal results in the safety status “restorable”; after the work is completed, the tree becomes “safe.” Trees whose safety cannot be clearly determined during a routine inspection are marked as “uncertain,” and a thorough investigation may be recommended for clarification. Trees whose safety cannot be restored are classified as “not safe” and are usually scheduled for felling.
An important goal in maintaining a digital tree register is to achieve legal security in fulfilling the duty of tree safety. arbonet provides all essential prerequisites for this: Access to the tree inventory is restricted to authorized users only, ensuring controlled data handling. In addition, full version history is maintained for all data changes — no tree data is ever overwritten or deleted. Even after multiple edits, all previous records remain stored in the system as part of the historical log. This means that for each tree, all past inspection results — including the inspector and inspection date — are accessible. Similarly, all previously completed works and historical versions of tree attributes with their respective modification dates can be retrieved at any time.
